aHUSUK attended the Complement UK Conference in Newcastle Upon Tyne last October(see news item click here )
Since then the professional organisation known as Complement UK has been developing a website which is now in the public domain. In time there will be lots of information about complement research on the site and it will be surprising how many other illnesses like aHUS have their root causes in some part of the complement system or its reaction with other parts of the immune or other blood clotting.
Genetic research is giving the opportunity to resolve diseases whether rare or common and transltional research will add to knowledge and treatments. It was research into the treatment of arthritis which is thought complement related which led to a solution for aHUS sufferers.
aHUSUK is intending to provide a patient perspective to the website and hopefully other patient organisations will join in with us as more is realised about about our common link -the complement system rather than the organ affected.
